Templeogue Away 11th October 2023. Templeogue, another team with a mix of youth and experience. Unfortunately this was a winnable game that got away. We started strong and maybe a bit too strong, with Luke and Lewis picking up 2 fouls in the first few minutes. Great job by the lads for keeping the heads up and played tough defence for the game and kept the fouls at 2. Overall we had 7 fouls in the first quarter, 2 in the second and none in the 3rd and 4th. Great help side all round without any reaching made life difficult for Templeogue. We finished the first quarter 2 up, the second 1 up but things went wrong in the 3rd quarter, losing the quarter by 8. Too many cross court passed were picked off for easy layups for Templeogue. We didn’t start much better in the 4th, being down by 14 point at one point. With 2 minutes left and 12 down, we just had to throw everything at it. We put in 3’s to narrow the gap, at the same time Lewis being dominant under the boards picking up anything that missed. We kept working and brought the difference down to 6 points at the end. Some stand out parts of the game, #53 from Templeogue will be having nightmares for weeks after Daragh’s block on him sent the ball off the side wall of the gym. Lewis drives in side where he was clotheslined multiple time made us question if #21 from Templeogue thought he was in the WWE, Lewis punished him hitting 7 free throws. Patrick’s two back to back buckets from his sweet spot of 12 feet. Top scorer’s for the night, Lewis on 13 and Lee with a small forest contributing 9 points. Next game, home to Dublin Raiders Wednesday 18th October.
